Our Curriculum
Our aim is to provide our children with an engaging, exciting and empowering curriculum that equips them with the knowledge and skills for today, tomorrow and beyond.
At The Hythe Primary School, the curriculum is designed to recognise children’s prior learning and build upon this, allowing the children to develop interpersonal skills, build resilience and become creative, critical thinkers whilst promoting British Values.
Every child is recognised as a unique individual. We celebrate and welcome differences within our diverse school community. The ability to learn is underpinned by the teaching of basic skills, knowledge, concepts and values with a vision to prepare them for life beyond primary school. We believe that childhood should be a happy, investigative and enquiring time in our lives, where there are no limits to curiosity and there is a thirst for new experiences and knowledge. We encourage our children to have positive attitudes toward learning which reflect the values and skills needed to promote responsibility for learning and future success.
Children leave The Hythe with a sense of belonging to a tightly knit community where they have the confidence and skills to make decisions, self-evaluate, make connections and become lifelong learners. They are proud to be, and to have been, part of our school and community.

Curriculum Grids / Information for Parents
Every term we hold curriculum information meetings with families. We share information regarding the curriculum your child will be covering, any trips or visitors that are planned, and how you can help to support them at home. If you have any further questions, regarding the curriculum please do not hesitate to contact your child's class teacher.
Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS)
In the Early Years Foundation Stage, we follow the new Early Years Foundation Stage Statutory Framework. The children learn through play, and we provide the children with the opportunities to participate in a range of child and adult-led activities using the indoor and outdoor learning environment
Equality in the Curriculum
The Hythe is an inclusive school that caters for a diverse community and supports learners with a range of physical and special educational needs. As a school, we continually review the texts we use to ensure children can see themselves reflected in literature and to consciously break down stereotypes. Through the use of Jigsaw, the ideas of equality and diversity are embedded into our curriculum across all subjects. Please also see the Hythe School Equality Objectives.
